City Life Milan: the mega shopping center opens its doors

One hundred shops, 32 square metres, a catchment area for 700 people, 1.500 covered (free) parking spaces and 1.200 cinema spaces. Normal shopping center numbers, except that to get there you don't have to go to a specific area, perhaps outside the city: the City Life Shopping District was in fact born in the heart of Milan, within an area, that of the former Fiera, of approximately 170 thousand square meters total and now completely redeveloped.

The largest urban mall, which is open to the public Thursday November 30, rises in fact around the two towers (the third, designed by Libeskind will also arrive in 2020) designed by archistars Arata Isozaki and Zaha Hadid (who also designed the three floors of the shopping district in the Shopping District), at a green area which is the second largest park in Milan after Parco Sempione and can be reached by the M5 metro, the last one built in chronological order and a further symbol of the new Milan that is taking shape.

In short, there is the whole new face of Milan in this project which is worth a total investment, that of the entire City Life, of 2 billion euros, and new jobs, in the various shops of the Shopping District, which according to the councilor for labor policies of the Municipality of Milan, Cristina Tajani, "there are already almost 600, between temporary and permanent contracts (about half and half), and who in perspective they will become about 800".

The real deal, however, will come from the shops, which will count on a very high catchment area and practically non-stop opening hours, from Monday to Sunday. In addition to the 1.200-seat multiplex cinema, there is room for everything from Carrefour Market to Ovs, from the low-cost Flying Tiger chain to the Apple Store, as well as several "beginnings" such as the first Huawei flagship store in Europe and the first Mexican restaurant in Italy of the Fresh Mex Cavalera chain. And then fashion is well present, with Made in Italy but not only: Guess, Piquadro, Levi's, Adidas, Foot Locker, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Timberland and others.

Armando Borghi, CEO of City Life, said: “We are proud to be able to announce the opening of City Life Shopping District. The most innovative Italian commercial district which, with its offer of food, fashion and entertainment, will integrate perfectly with the residential part and the office towers designed by three extraordinary architects. CityLife increasingly represents an example of how Milan has been able to regenerate itself and offer a new way of experiencing the city".

José Maria Robles, Property Director Sierra Italy, added: “The commercial district of City Life, in addition to being located in a truly suggestive location, is able to satisfy the visitor thanks to a wide and selected choice of premium signs, also managing to anticipate the trends of the sector through the presence of new operators on the shopping center market. With a constant commitment over time, City Life Shopping District will continue to distinguish itself on the market and to surprise the customer at every visit through an ever-present tenant mix and an accurate entertainment offer throughout the year”.

  1. It is NOT the largest in Italy, the largest shopping center in Italy is the Città Fiera di Udine: 240 shops, 78.000 m8 of retail space, 3 million catchers in XNUMX countries…. Please update thanks
