In China the tertiary sector continues to grow, albeit at a slow pace. According to the latest data released by HSBC, last month the Chinese PMI index relating to the services sector stood at 51,3 points.
The figure thus remains just above the low reached in April (51,1), but is still higher than the expectations of analysts, who were betting on a drop to 49,9. A difference of a few tenths that is anything but irrelevant: the threshold of 50 points, in fact, marks the border between contraction and growth.
