US registrations of Chrysler, a Fiat subsidiary, increased at an annual rate of 16% in November, exceeding market expectations.
Last month's sales came in at 142.275 – the best November since 2007, before the auto sector entered a deep recession – at least in part thanks to the positive reception of the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee model. Industry insiders polled by Reuters were betting on a median of 135.189.
Chrysler is the first Detroit automaker to release November business results; those of General Motors and Ford will be released later in the day together with data from other foreign companies.
