Cgil-Uil: general strike December 12, the Cisl refuses

No longer 5, but 12 December: this is the new date of the general strike, which in addition to the CGIL will also involve the UIL. The CISL, on the other hand, continues to refuse to join the protest. These are the main novelties that emerged from the meeting between the leaders of the three confederal trade unions on the sidelines of the Uil congress.

The deputy secretary general and designated leader of the UIL, Carmelo Barbagallo, said the CGIL, which had planned the strike for December 5, had accepted his confederation's request to defer.

“He adhered to the proposal to move the date – underlined Barbagallo – now we are verifying the feasibility with the guarantee authority on strikes. The CISL has communicated that it will not join the general strike. Let's hope we can do something unitary, a demonstration, on public employment for a reform shared with the workers. We will see, our strike is of all categories”.

The number one of the Cisl, Annamaria Furlan, instead explained that “we didn't walk out, we never evaluated the general strike. Instead, we confirm the strike of the unitary public employee, which will be decided soon by the categories ". The Cisl executive will meet today to decide on its own forms of mobilisation.

The last unitary general strike took place on 12 December 2011 (three-hour stop at the end of the shift) against the maneuver by the Monti government, in particular against the pension reform developed by Minister Elsa Fornero.
