CDP mobilizes 11,6 billion in 6 months and returns to profit

In the first half of 2021, the group Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has mobilized resources for 11,6 billion euros for the benefit of businesses, public administration, infrastructure and international cooperation. The figure is 3,8 billion higher than that recorded in the first half of 2020, also thanks to 5,2 billion euros of refinancing of MEF mortgages to the regions. The CDP makes it known in the note on the financial data for the January-June period, which closed with an important return to profit: the Cassa recorded profits of 1,4 billion, which compares with the net loss of 700 million suffered in the same period last year.  

From the same report it emerges that the total consolidated assets it stands at 514,8 billion euro, an increase of 0,5% (equal to 2,4 billion euro) compared to 31 December of the previous year.

La total collection is equal to 423,9 billion euros, 1,6% more than in the first half of 2020.

Il net assets consolidated amount reached 32,3 billion euros, of which 18,7 billion euros related to the group's shareholders' equity.

Il operating result before taxes it stands at 1,2 billion euros, up 33% compared to 2020, mainly thanks to the results of the parent company.

As for the economic results of Cdp Spa, net profit amounted to 1,4 billion euros, up slightly (+2%) on an annual basis.

In detail, the net interest income amounted to 856 million euros, down compared to the first half of 2020 mainly due to the effect of the context of interest rates at historic lows. Dividends amounted to 547 million euros, 25% less than for the year, above all due to the lower dividend from Eni. Other net revenues, on the other hand, amounted to 478 million euros, up thanks to the interest rate risk management strategies implemented on the securities portfolio. In terms of assets, total assets amounted to 416 billion euros (+1% compared to 2020).

Still with regard to Cdp Spa, collection stands at 386 billion euros, up 2% compared to the end of 2020. In particular, postal funding reached 279 billion euros, up 2% compared to December last year thanks to positive net inflows recorded in the half year (+2,9 billion euro) and to interest accrued in favor of savers. Funding from banks and customers, on the other hand, amounted to 86 billion euro, up compared to the end of 2020 (+4%) mainly due to the growth in deposits from subsidiaries and funding deriving from treasury operations. Lastly, bond funding amounted to 20 billion euro, a slight decrease compared to the previous year (-3%) due to the maturities recorded in the half year, which more than offset the new 500 million euro social issue to support of Italian SMEs and Mid Caps located in the regions of Southern Italy.
