Camusso, raise pensions to 60% of the last salary

It is necessary to guarantee pensions equal to at least 60% of the final salary, otherwise "we will build a country of the poor". These are the words of the general secretary of the CGIL, Susanna Camusso, published this morning by the newspaper Repubblica. "An idea of privatization of the welfare state is making headway - added the trade unionist -, explicitly in Confindustria, in a more hidden way in some sectors of the Government". This strategy would be “the same one that brings public water into the hands of private individuals. There is something to be worried about”.

According to Camusso, “we cannot imagine a country with a third of the population, ie pensioners, at risk of poverty. Already today eight out of ten pensions do not reach 1000 euros. This is a country that is giving up planning its future”. The CGIL leader then accuses small entrepreneurs of "discouraging" their employees from joining supplementary pension funds: "On the one hand they say that supplementary pensions are needed and on the other they continue to use the severance pay instead of bank credit" . Another contradiction denounced by the trade unionist is the failure to strengthen welfare with the savings generated by raising the retirement age for women. On these funds, Camusso, you say you suspect that “they ended up in current spending. You confirm that this government has no social policy other than that of cuts ”.
