The reform of the Italian Chambers of Commerce has officially begun, which will lead to the halving of their number. The executive committee of Unioncamere has launched the reorganization operation taking note of the first indications matured at the regional level.
The request was to indicate possible aggregations to bring the total number of chambers from the current 105 to no more than 50-60. Thirteen regional Unions have already approved the unification of the Chambers of Commerce in their territory, while the remaining ones will formalize the same process in the next few days.
Mergers tend to create local realities with a catchment area of at least 80 businesses that combine economic sustainability and enhancement of the territories. By the autumn, all the chambers of commerce will be busy deciding on the new structure.
