Chamber, stop the exodus-saving amendment. But Fornero: "We will save 140 thousand"

Confusion continues to reign over the exodus: the Government opens up, through the words of the Minister of Labor Elsa Fornero, while in Parliament the amendment to the Stability Law is rejected.

Chamber, stop the exodus-saving amendment. But Fornero: "We will save 140 thousand"

The "clash" between the Government and Parliament continues on the exodus: the former opens up, the latter slows down. In fact, the first came stop the amendment to the Stability law which extended the guarantees for redundant workers and which had been voted unanimously by the Labor Commission. The Budget Committee of the Chamber has in fact judged the proposal inadmissible. Then the Minister of Labor Elsa Fornero, speaking during a meeting with the foreign press, opened up the possibility of reaching 140 expatriates safeguarded, through a provision contained in the Stability Law.

According to what was explained by the vice-president of the Labor Commission Giuliano Cazzola, the amendment to the Stability Law presented in the Budget Commission in the Chamber was declared "inadmissible" due to the coverage deemed "inadequate". The proposal had been voted unanimously in the Labor commission at Montecitorio (with the only exception of the Pdl deputy Cazzola who had not taken part in the vote) and was then presented in the Budget commission.

The amendments declared inadmissible are, in particular, the one on onerous contributory reunification and the one on the extension of safeguards to other categories of displaced persons currently excluded. Both had been presented by Cazzola. The same fate befell the amendment - on the same matter - voted by the Labor Commission.

According to the Minister of Labour, Elsa Fornero, it is possible to safeguard expatriates: “We could reach 140.000 safeguarded expatriates, with a provision contained in the stability law. There will be a new revision for another 10.000 people”, which add up to the 65.000 plus 55.000 protected by the two provisions of the Monti government, plus the 10.000 workers of the reforms of the former Minister of Labour, Maurizio Sacconi.
