Chamber, electoral law in the Chamber from 27 January

La electoral law will arrive in the Chamber of Deputies on January 27th. This was established yesterday by the conference of group leaders of Montecitorio.

The president of the Chamber, Laura Boldrini, met the president of the constitutional affairs commission, Francesco Paolo Sisto, to discuss the process of the electoral law: hearings begin next week, while the general discussion in the commission will begin on 20 January.

In the same week that the electoral law arrives in the Chamber, from 27 to 31 January, the Assembly will also have to vote on the expiring decrees to be sent to the Senate, Destino Italia and the prison plan.

“Electoral law, cuts in provinces and political costs, jobs act, rights. It seemed impossible, yet it moves. It's really the right time," tweeted the secretary of the Democratic Party, Matteo Renzi

However, not everyone is enthusiastic about the new calendar. “There is the risk of a contradiction with the timing of the commission – said the group leader of Ncd in the Chamber, Enrico Costa -. The hope is that it is not a date spot”.

The secretary of the same party throws water on the fire: "On the electoral law we are fine with an agenda that closes the path to the Chamber in the first week of February - he specified Angelino Alfano –. It is our openness to Renzi: we trust him and we are convinced that he will not use the rapid approval of the law to return to the vote ”.

Meanwhile, the premier Enrico Letta, in the consultation with the delegation of the Popolari for Italy, affirmed that the government needs "a change of pace".

The Prime Minister and the secretary of the Democratic Party should have met yesterday, but the conversation was canceled and will probably be held after the leadership of the Democratic Party on January 16th. No meeting, however, specifies the party, is scheduled between the mayor of Florence and Silvio Berlusconi.
