Hot, Uffizi closed: air conditioners blow

The exceptional heat wave, also in Florence, sent the air conditioning systems of the Gallery into a tailspin. It will reopen on Saturday. Sorry visitors but no problem for the works

Hot, Uffizi closed: air conditioners blow

The Uffizi gallery will be closed on Friday afternoon, after the air conditioning system stopped due to a lack of water to cool the system. The management of the Uffizi communicated it on Twitter: “closed due to failure of the air conditioning system. We apologize for the inconvenience. #Tomorrow #August 5th we will be open regularly!”.

The gallery has been closed to the public since Friday around noon. At that time, after realizing that the air conditioning system was no longer working due to the depletion of water supplies, it was decided to evacuate the visitors who were inside and close the museum's doors. In the first instance, a reopening at 15 pm was assumed but evidently entering the water, brought with a tank, into the system was not enough to restart the system immediately. And so the director of the Gallery decided to confirm the closure in the afternoon, warning the visitors who in the meantime were queuing up to await the reopening. Someone was disappointed but luckily no problem for the works.
