Bags, Catalonia sinks only Madrid

The Stock Exchange loses hits Madrid (-1,39%), but in the rest of the Old Continent the political chaos over the future of Catalonia leaves the price lists indifferent. TO Business Square the Ftse Mib index rose by 0,15%, around 22.730 points. Variation analogous to Paris, while Frankfurt advances by 0,4%.

The yield on BTPs rises to 2,15%, while Spanish ten-year bonds drop 5 basis points, to 1,68%. The Spain-Germany spread stands at 119 basis points.

The news on the macro front is positive. Manufacturing activity in the Eurozone in September, it rose to its highest level since early 2011. The manufacturing PMI index, edited by IHS Markit, rose to 58,1 from 57,4 in August, just below the flash estimate of 58,2 but still at its highest level since February 2011. The manufacturing item also improved to 59,2 from 58,3, its highest since April 2011.

La Italian unemployment it fell again in August, to 11,2% after rising to 11,3% in July. The figure is in line with the average for the 2nd quarter and close to the minimum for almost 5 years reached last June (11,1%). Employment growth mainly concerns fixed-term jobs, while permanent jobs remain substantially stable.

Petroleum Brent fell by 0,4% to 56,7 dollars, from +1,2% last week, the fifth consecutive rise. Exploration activity has restarted in North America, after 7 weeks of decline, there has been an increase in active drilling rigs. Eni +0,2%, Saipem -0,8%.

Contrast the banks. The Eurostoxx sector index dropped by 0,8%. Intesa Sanpaolo loses 0,1%. Royal Bank of Canada has cut the recommendation and the target: from Outperform to Sector perform, from 3,30 euros to 3,10 euros. Unicredit -0,11%.

Strongly increasing Where's Banca (+3,60%): Société Générale raises its judgment to Buy from Hold, target price to 5,6 euros from 4 euros. The broker also rewards Bper Banca with a Buy (+0,8%, target 6 euros).

Bpm bank +0,5%. The company expects to sell two billion euros of non-performing loans in the short term. With this disposal, the total NPLs sold since the beginning of the year rises to 4,7 billion euros.

Among the industrialists, Fiat Chrysler (+0,59%) reached a new absolute record this morning at 15,39 euros. Car sales figures for September will be announced tonight after the stock exchange is closed.

Debut with immediate success for Gima Tt, a company specializing in packaging machines for tobacco products. The shares, placed at 12,5 euros, i.e. at the top of the range indicated in the IPO phase, rose by 18,2% to 14,75 euros on the first day of trading. The placement had already seen requests for securities equal to about 8 times the offer. The total proceeds from the offer, excluding the greenshoe option, amounted to 372 million euros. With today's leap, the capitalization is close to 1,3 billion euros. 

In great evidence stm (+1,9%). Of note is the collapse of Trevi (-20%). The drilling company, owned by CDP, closed the quarter with a loss of 31 million in terms of Ebitda, 102 million euros in the red. The drilling and foundation company has warned it will be forced to restructure its debt.

Downhill too Cheetah (-6,6%). The publishing company concluded a settlement with the tax authorities for a dispute that had lasted since the early 175s. As a result of the agreement, it will pay XNUMX million euros.
