Stock market, Vodafone effect: Telecom flies

Stock market, Vodafone effect: Telecom flies

The telecommunications sector is in fibrillation on all European markets and in Piazza Affari the Telecom Italia stock is up by more than five points at the start (after +9,3% on Friday), clearly taking the lead in the increases of the Ftse Mib.

It was the trigger for the purchases the maxi-acquisition of Verizon Wireless by the American Verizon, which took over 45% of the joint venture with Vodafone for 130 billion dollars. The sector index is the best in Europe, with an increase of 2,6%.

At this point the operators are betting on a campaign of acquisitions by the large American companies in Europe, starting with AT&T, which could go to the assault on Vodafone (which on the London list leaps by 2%) or Telecom Italia.

Vodafone itself, according to the hypotheses of other operators (and formulated last Friday by the broker Bernstein) could use the cash collected to launch an offer on Tim Brasil, triggering a competitive auction on all of Telecom or a reaction from the Spanish Telefonica (+1,5 .XNUMX% opening in Madrid).
