Sudden collapse of Fiat at Piazza Affari. After gradually widening the red during the morning, at the beginning of the afternoon the Lingotto stock on the Stock Exchange underwent a downward acceleration that brought it into a volatility auction. At the time of the suspension, the shares were down 7,15%, at 6,56 euros. In the following minutes, however, the stock was re-admitted to trading and trimmed losses to just under five percentage points.
Several Italian traders do not know the cause that unleashed the wave of sales: rather, there is talk of "technical reasons related to the rights of withdrawal for the Fiat-Chrysler merger", as explained by a source quoted by the Reuters agency.
Among international operators, however, there is a rumor of an antitrust investigation in China that could lead to a conviction of Chrysler for monopolistic practices.
Meanwhile, the European automotive basket dropped by around 0,9%, with all stocks in the red (none, however, yielded as much as Fiat), except BMW, rewarded for the quarterly accounts.
