The news on the consolidation of the sector, which follows the announcement of the merger between the Swiss Holcim and the French Lafarge, has pushed the shares of the two companies. The rumors about the negotiation, which had already spread over the course of last week, had already given life to the titles in the last few days.

According to analysts, the merger between Holcim and Lafarge could turn out to be very positive for the Italian groups, which would have the possibility of buying assets put up for sale by the new group to comply with the diktats of the European Antitrust. Additionally, greater industry concentration could improve company valuations. The new company, as announced by Holcim and Lafarge, will be listed in Paris and Zurich.
