Facade bonus, 90% deduction: how it works

Facade bonus, i.e. redoing the exteriors of houses and condominiums using a 90% tax deduction. This is one of the most important and unexpected novelties of the tax decree and the maneuver approved "subject to agreements" by the Government. 

In 2020 the focus is on the home, with the confirmation of the old incentives, from the eco-bonus to the furniture bonus passing through the one on renovations, and the introduction of a new substantial discount in favor of those who will contribute to "giving a new face to our cities" . The aim is also to lend a hand to the construction sector, which has been in the throes of a black crisis for years, by acting on the decency of cities and focusing on the tax revenues that these interventions will guarantee.

FACADE BONUS: HOW IT WORKS

To find out the details of the provision, it will be necessary to wait for the drafts of the texts, but according to what is indicated by the Government "a deduction is introduced for 2020 for the renovation of the external facades of buildings (the 'facade bonus') to give a new face to our cities ”.

“In the budget law, a courageous provision that will make Italian cities more beautiful. With the bonus you get a 90% tax credit for those who redo the facade of their house or apartment building in 2020, in the historic center or suburbs, in big cities or in small towns!", announced the Minister of Culture, Dario on Twitter Franceschini. 

The 90% tax credit will be available to those who will have to bear the costs for the restoration and recovery of the building facades. Unlike what is foreseen for the other home bonuses, no spending or income ceiling should be established for the people who take advantage of the incentive.

HOUSE: OTHER BONUSES EXTENDED

The government has extended the other housing bonuses by one year. In detail, it will be valid until 31 December 2020. The 50% deduction on renovation of real estate. Ditto with regard to interventions aimed at improving the energy efficiency of their properties, the so-called ecobonus. In this case, however, the discount varies from 50 to 65% depending on the type of work performed. Still in effect in 2020 also the mobile bonuses and major appliances and the seismic bonus up to 85% for taxpayers who improve the anti-seismic performance of their homes or common areas of the condominium.

Finally, we remind you that, according to what was announced, they should arrive from 2021 discounts also on ordinary expenses and maintenance. In order to stimulate electronic payments, the Executive intends to introduce discounts on expenses made with traceable payment instruments in sectors where the use of cash is still widespread. Put simply, anyone who pays the plumber or electrician using a credit card or debit card, leaving cash in their wallet, will have a discount available, the percentage of which should be set between 10 and 19%.
