Car tax and airbags for motorcycles: two new arrivals

In addition to the news on RC car insurance and anti-abandonment seats, tax decree approved Sunday night in the Budget Committee in the House and now being examined by the House, it also contains important provisions on car tax and airbags for motorcycles.

Since January 2020, XNUMX, the car tax you can only pay through the circuit PagoPA. Until this year, the car practice agencies made payments on vehicles registered to residents of other regions through another channel. Now, however, even this type of payment is possible with the Pago PA circuit, so there is no longer any need to keep the alternative payment channel active.

But it's not over. In theory, it should have come into force next year Single Circulation and Ownership Document (the Duc), replacing the Certificate of ownership (issued by the Public Automobile Register, the Pra, managed by Aci) and of the Circulation Card (the famous "booklet", issued by the Civil Motorization). According to the project launched by the Renzi government, the Duc was to debut in July 2018, but the launch was then postponed to January 2020st 2020 and now - with the new Budget law - a new postponement is about to arrive, this time to November XNUMXst XNUMX. In the meantime the Pra, which initially had to disappear, was saved in order not to create problems for the Italian Grand Prix, which is partly financed with a share of the proceeds from the Pra. Now another amendment to the tax decree brings all the data on the payment of the stamp duty to the ACI, making it more difficult to abolish the Pra again in the future.

As far as the motorcycle airbags – which can be installed on vehicles, but also on technical clothing, such as vests for motorcyclists and scooter riders – from 2020 those who buy them can benefit from a 50% deduction on documented expenses, up to a maximum of 500 euros. There is also a spending ceiling for the State, which will not invest more than 30 million a year for this bonus. Motorcycle airbags – generally quite expensive – can be mechanically or electronically activated, but to benefit from the discount they must still comply with European standard EN1621/4.
