Blablacar expands in Europe: buy Carpooling and Autohop

Hitting a car ride from Budapest to Berlin just got easier. Blablacar, the number one car-sharing company in Europe, has acquired two competitors: the German carpooling.com and Hungarian Autohop.

With these operations Blablacar aims to create one of the largest networks of car sharing in Europe, with a community that will be formed by 20 million users from 18 European countries. A year ago, says the Economist today, the network of Blablacar users was 6 million.

For the moment, according to some rumors, the Carpooling.com website will continue to operate under its current brand and then move in the long term under the Blablacar wing.

The terms of the agreement are not known, but, according to reports from the Financial Times, the German site Carpooling.com would have a value of several tens of millions of dollars.
