Bitcoin below $10: -50% in one month

That the Bitcoins were not tools for the faint of heart they had known it for some time now, but perhaps not even its most bitter critics expected that in the space of a few real days they would achieve a downward flow of such magnitude.

The world's most popular digital currency went down this morning below 10 thousand dollars, thitting the lowest level since the beginning of December and weighing down all the other cryptocurrencies which, today, are suffering ever very significant drops. Not only that, as a result of what is happening, the total capitalization collapsed to about 480 billion dollars compared to the 800 billion reached at the beginning of the year.

At 16.35 the value of Bitcoin settles at 9.802 dollars, with a drop that in percentage terms exceeds 21% compared to the day. In mid-December and therefore just under a month ago, their value had almost reached $20. In less than thirty days, therefore, losses exceed 50%.

The fears of the arrival of a regulatory tightening on an asset that has seen its value soar in the last year have caused the collapse of the most famous cryptocurrency in the world. Concerns heightened by Chinese government threatens to end centralized trading and the possibility that in a short time other Executives will also decide to follow the same path. Pan Gongsheng, deputy governor of the People's Bank of China, announced that "the government should put pressure on centralized exchanges of virtual currency, preventing the growth of risks associated with those markets and prohibiting trading", which is carried out on platforms such as Coinbase or Kraken.

In the meantime, another unexpected piece of news has also arrived to surprise investors: Bitconnect, a well-known cryptocurrency lending platform, has decided to close its doors.

The news on Bitcoins have also weighed down the other digital currencies: Ethereum dropped to $900, losing almost 40% in less than a week, Ripple is around 1 dollar (-70%), while Litecoin it is worth $165 today compared to 365 on December 19th.
