Bersani-Berlusconi: the meeting on the Quirinale and the government by tonight

At the center of the discussion is the search for a shared personality for the Presidency of the Republic but also an initial survey on the formation of the government: Berlusconi wants to enter it with equal dignity while Bersani refuses the government - But there may be other solutions.

Bersani-Berlusconi: the meeting on the Quirinale and the government by tonight

The appointment has been brought forward to this evening. Pier Luigi Bersani and Silvio Berlusconi will meet to take stock of the political situation and sound out a possible agreement on the name of the new head of state. The summit between centre-left and centre-right leaders was initially scheduled for Thursday, but this afternoon it was decided to deal with the matter immediately. The meeting place is uncertain: perhaps the Chamber, perhaps Palazzo Giustiniani. The deputies, Enrico Letta and Angelino Alfano will also be present.

It does not seem likely that the two leaders will reach an agreement to unblock the political situation and give the go-ahead to a new government, above all considering the latest statements by Bersani, who as recently as this morning reiterated that he was not available in any way to support a let's govern.

For his part, the Knight does not agree to support a Bersani-led executive in which the center-right does not have the same specific weight as the opponents. In short, no abstentions, no external support: the only way forward in the eyes of the pidiellini is that of equal cohabitation. A proposal considered inadmissible by the Democratic Party.
