Berlusconi, Veronica Lario in Cassation for maintenance

The judicial saga between Silvio Berlusconi and his ex-wife Veronica Lario, which began in 2009, is enriched with a new chapter. In recent days, according to reports from the Il Sole 24 Radiocor agency, Lario notified the Court of Cassation of the appeal against the sentence of the Milan Court of Appeal, which had canceled her post-divorce maintenance allowance and had forced her to return a sum of around 45 million euros to the former Knight. Immediately after the sentence, which dates back to November 16, Veronica Lario's lawyer, Cristina Morelli, had defined the decision of the Court of Appeal as "profoundly unjust", which had eliminated the 1,4 million monthly maintenance allowance established in 2013 by the Court of Monza. Thus, in recent days, the appeal to the Cassation arrived on time, within the established deadline of 60 days

The Court of Appeal of Milan had decided to apply to the Berlusconi-Lario case the precedent of former Economy Minister Vittorio Grilli, who last year had been recognized – precisely by the Cassation – the right not to have to support his wife , as it is economically autonomous, thus undermining the principle of the "same standard of living". A line that proved to be effective, for the case between Berlusconi and his ex-wife, also and above all for the part of the decision that concerned the past and therefore sanctioned the restitution of the amount previously paid.
