ECB, Weidmann: recovery will take 10 years

It may take ten years to overcome the crisis and get the eurozone economy back to pre-2008 growth rates. Jens Weidmann, president of the Bundesbank and member of the executive committee of the ECB, told the Wall Street Journal.

Weidmann also said the ECB could cut rates further if economic conditions demanded it. "But such a measure - he said - would not be enough to change the fate of the continental economy whose fate remains closely linked to the ability of the political classes to find ways to revive growth and get credit to small businesses".
