The European Central Bank confirmed the reference rate for the Eurozone at 0,15%, the historic low reached last month with the latest reduction. The rate on marginal refinancing operations also remains at 0,40%, and the rate with which the ECB pays the deposits it holds on behalf of commercial banks at -0,10%.
The decision announced today by the Governing Council is in line with analysts' expectations. Last month, in addition to reducing rates, the president Mario Draghi had also announced the decision to introduce a large amount of liquidity into the real economy through tied refinancing operations with long-term subsidized banks.
