Cooperative banks, loans +1,5% in July, deposits +5,8%

According to Assopopolari surveys, both loans and above all deposits of cooperative banks grew significantly in July – The boom in current accounts continues: two percentage points above the system average – De Lucia: “We openly support SMEs and territories”

In July, the loans of cooperative banks increased by 1,5% compared to twelve months before and the growth of current account deposits continued by more than two percentage points compared to the system average. These are the results that emerge from the data processed by the National Association of Popular Banks. Furthermore, in the first seven months of the year, the flow of new loans to small and medium-sized enterprises amounted to over 17 billion euro and new mortgage loans for home purchases came close to 2016 billion euro, values in both cases higher than as evidenced in the same months in 2. All at lower rates (around XNUMX%) than the average for the system.

For the Secretary General Giuseppe De Lucia Lumeno “the data confirm how the cooperative banks are accompanying the territories and the productive fabric along the still impervious path of recovery. The commitment of Cooperative Banks for the territories - continues De Lucia Lumeno - which has seen them at the forefront in the most acute phases of the recession through anti-cyclical policies, still continues today in a constant manner in a framework of still uneven growth, confirming that above all through support for SMEs it is possible to relaunch and strengthen the expectations of consolidation of the recovery”.
