Buying a car for €2500, what until now seemed unthinkable could soon become a reality. To break through the frontiers of the super low-cost are once again the French Renault.
According to the French newspaper La Tribune, after the launch of the Dacia Logan, marketed from €7.700, French managers intend to start projects in January for a car that costs a third. The project, under the leadership of the director of the low cost line Renault Gerard Detourbet, will be developed in synergy with Nissan. The experience gained with Dacia will certainly be useful for the development of super-economical solutions, but the rumors seem to exclude that the new model shares some technical platform with the Romanian subsidiary whose production costs would be too high for the revolutionary project.
The super low cost has been designed for emerging or poor countries to give an answer to the growing demand for cars that beats the competition. It certainly cannot be ruled out that the new model, once developed, will find space on the European market. A real joy for the wallets of motorists of the Old Continent.
