In November, according to the producers association (That), new car registrations in the EU (plus the EFTA countries: Iceland, Norway and Switzerland) were one million and 189 thousand units, with an increase of 5,6% compared to the same month last year.

In the former eleven months this year, more than 13 million new cars were registered, with a growth of 6,9% compared to the same period of 2015.

Growing the Italian market with 145.835 cars registered (+8,2% compared to November 2015) and a balance for the eleven months of almost 1,5 million vehicles (+16,5% compared to the same period of 2015).

Registrations grew by double digits in Spain in November (+13,5%) and good results were also recorded in France (+8,5%), while the growth of the market in Germany (+1,5%) and in Britain (+ 2,9%).

Il FCA group (Fiat-Chrysler) since the beginning of the year is the one that records the best performance in registrations, considering the major European manufacturers in the ranking. The Italian-American group registered 73.888 cars last month, an increase of 10,3% compared to the same month last year.

According to the Promoter Studies Center, the European Union market will close 2016 with a volume of registrations of 14.675.254 and therefore with a level that will still be around 900 units lower than the pre-crisis peak reached in 2007.

This gap should be though recovered in 2017. If this is the case, for the European Union the car crisis that began in 2007 will have lasted ten years: a much longer period than that of the advanced non-European markets and above all of the countries in which the process of mass motorization.
