The automotive market is starting the new year off on the right foot: in January 2018, sales of new cars in Europe are still on the rise, with +6,8% on an annual basis. The registrations reached 1,28 million. All major markets grew, with the sole exception of the United Kingdom, which fell by 6,3%, a trend that has lasted for ten months. At the top are Spain (+20,3%) and Germany (+11,6%), while the increase registered by Italy (+3,4%) and France (+2,5, XNUMX%).

The group fca recorded an increase in new car registrations of 1,2%. However, the market share fell from 7% in January 2017 to 6,6%. New cars registered in the EU28 plus EFTA countries totaled 84.953 compared to 83.944 in January 2017. The Jeep brand is very positive (+68,1%) and Alfa Romeo (+24,4%); negative for Fiat (-5,8%) and Lancia-Chrysler (-27,1%). The other brands of the group instead collected a drop of 23,4%.

In the EU alone FCA achieved a 1% increase while its market share fell from 7,1 to 6,7 percent. New registrations amounted to 83.547 compared to the January 2017 result of 82.708. Double-digit increases were recorded for the Jeep (+67,3%) and Alfa Romeo (+23,1%) brands; negative for Fiat (-5,7%), Lancia-Chrysler (-27%) and the other brands of the group (-23,8%).
