Atlantia-Abertis: Madrid slows down after Consob ok

Madrid continues to block the Atlantia-Abertis affair, despite the green light, arrived yesterday, from the Spanish Consob to the offer of the Italian group controlled by the Benetton family, which has relaunched its ambitions even without the prior authorization of the Madrid government . Authorization which is now claimed by the Iberian Energy Minister Alvaro Nadal, who underlined that the purchase of the Abertis subsidiary, Hispasat, which operates in satellites and is a strategic business for the Spanish defence, cannot be treated as a simple commercial operation and therefore the ministry's authorization is required.

In short, at the moment the traffic light is orange, and this just as in the meantime Atlantia's competitor in the race for the Spanish motorway company, the Acs of Real Madrid patron Florentino Perez, which presented a proposal of 18,77 euros per share, has yet to be examined by the Spanish Consob. However, Minister Nadal did not specify whether he will initiate an administrative dispute against the Spanish Consob, which has in fact authorized Atlantia's offer on Abertis without the government's permission.

Meanwhile, in Brazil, Atlantia has lost the tender for the management of the "Rodoanel Norte" motorway concession, which was won by Ecorodovias, of which Astm and Sias exercise joint control. The motorway represents the last stretch north of the 177 km that make up the large motorway ring (Rodoanel Mario Covas SP 021) which surrounds the metropolitan area of the city of São Paulo. The concession will have a thirty-year duration and, against investments for 580 million Brazilian reals (150 million euros), should have a starting ebitda of about 100 million Brazilian reals (25 million euros) with rate growth dynamics linked to inflation.
