Assosim: doubles the volatility on the Ftse Mib, down the prices on the markets

The first half of Piazza Affari ended with a dizzying fall in the countervalues ​​traded on the equity and bond markets and a sharp increase in volatility on the FTSE Mib.

This is what emerges from the analysis conducted by Assosim, Italian Association of Securities Intermediaries.

Going into detail, during the first six months of 2016, the total value of trades on the MTA fell by 21,43% to 342 billion euro (but the contracts traded increased by 9,32% to 41 million) while , on bonds, the value on the MOT fell by 34,39% to 118 billion euro. Eurotlx (-25,76%) and Himtf (-28,9%) were also down. The IDEM market went against the trend which, benefiting from the high volatility, recorded positive changes in all equity segments: a total of 25 million contracts were traded (+14,52% compared to the same period of 2015).

A semester to forget for the markets, weighed down by various concerns, from fears relating to the slowdown of the Chinese economy to the "perfect storm" caused by the referendum which decreed the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

One of the main consequences of financial uncertainty is the doubling of the volatility of the Ftse Mib, increased from 28% in 2015 to 58% in June 2016.

In the same period of reference, it should also be noted the reduction in the average size of transactions on almost all markets and the high concentration of trading on the financial instruments that make up the main index of Piazza Affari: in the first half of the year, the shares of the Ftse Mib they accounted for 91,1% of countervalues ​​and 78,6% of completed transactions.

Speaking of the individual performance of the stock indexes, the historical Ftse Italia Mib recorded a drop of 22%, the Ftse Mib of 24,4% and the Ftse Italia Star of 9,9%.

As for the major intermediaries on the stock market, taking into account the countervalues, the ranking is dominated by Finecobank with a market share of 19,63%, followed by IwBank (10,84%) and Banca Imi (7,52%). Same positions, but different percentages as regards the number of transactions: Fineco (18,12%), Banca Imi (9,62%) and IwBank (8,38%).

On the bond front, is Banca Imi is first in the standings on volumes traded, with a market share of 17,93%, followed by Banca Akros (16,97%) and Iccrea Banca (12,1%). In the ranking by number of transactions: Banca Imi 21,03%, Banca Akros 13,25% and Unicredit 12,41%.
