Car insurance, fines, road tax: here are the antivirus extensions

Expired road tax, car insurance to be renewed, fines to be paid, inspection skipped. Since the quarantine began, millions of cars have remained stationary throughout Italy. In the meantime, however, the obligations related to engines have not disappeared and the owners often don't know how to do it, having to comply with the obligation to stay at home. To help them, in some cases the government has launched a series of extensions with the Cura Italia decree of last March 16, while in others it left the decision to the local authorities. Let's make the point.

CAR TAX

The car tax is a regional tax, therefore it is the Regions that establish the extensions. At the moment, the following administrations have postponed to 30 June and beyond the expiring stamps up to 30 May:

  • Piemonte
  • Lombardia
  • Emilia Romagna
  • Veneto
  • Toscana
  • Lazio
  • Campania
  • Marche
  • Umbria
  • Friuli Venezia Giulia

Calabria and Sicily have not yet moved, but have already announced that soon they too will give the green light to the extensions.

CAR INSURANCE

As far as car insurance is concerned, the Cura Italia decree allows motorists to ask the companies to suspend their civil liability policy until 31 July, obviously without penalties or charges to be borne by the insured. The request can be forwarded as soon as the decree, converted into law by Parliament, is published in the Official Gazette. As for the effectiveness of the suspension, it will start from the day the company receives the request. But be careful, in order to take advantage of this benefit, one condition must be met: do not leave the car parked on public roads or car parks, but only inside a private space.

FINES

Road fines chapter. For those received from 16 February to 31 May, the deadline within which it is possible to benefit from the 30% discount increases from 5 to 30 days. Not only that: the 30-day count was also suspended from March 10 to April 3, because the Ministry of the Interior has provided for the suspension of all terms for this period. The list also includes

  • 60 days for the payment of fines;
  • 90 days to notify the minutes;
  • 30 or 60 days to appeal to the Justice of the Peace or to the Prefect.

REVISIONS

For revisions due up to 31 July, the deadline is postponed to 31 October.

CNG cars for which the cylinders or other components will have to be overhauled with a deadline between 31 January and 15 April will be able to continue to circulate by way of derogation until 15 June. For LPG-powered cars, the extension reaches 31 October.

DRIVING LICENSE AND PINK LEAFLET

Finally, the licence. If the document expires after January 31, you will benefit from an extension until August 31.

As for the pink paper, if the deadline is between February 30st and April 30th, the validity of the permit is automatically extended until June XNUMXth.

For the driving exams, the theory can be carried out by 30 June, even beyond the 6-month deadline from the submission of the application. No further requests are needed.
