“On the ballot paper that came out of the ballot box it says: carry out the reforms, we need them to recreate work, income, social cohesion. Don't disappoint us." This is the appeal to Prime Minister Matteo Renzi launched by the president of Confindustria, Giorgio Squinzi, on the occasion of the public assembly of the association.
According to the president of Confindustria, “the popular mandate given to the main government party and its leader Matteo Renzi testifies to the desire for change in the country. This desire awaits facts that give substance to reforms and growth”. "Encouraging signs of renewal have come from the executive: on electoral law, on simplification and on public administration, on institutional reforms, on labor legislation", explained the leader of the industrialists. But now "the lively action of the beginning and an extraordinary result like this of the vote - added Squinzi - give us hope that the season of institutional reforms is now really starting". On this path, the availability of entrepreneurs "is unchanged and complete", he assured.
But "without reforms - he insisted - it is impossible to engage growth" and "we need stability to make reforms, reforms trigger growth, with growth comes jobs". Precisely the work is the indicated priority by the leader of Confindustria: "We need to give work back to the country: all efforts must be concentrated on this primary objective". "Work is not created by decree - Squinzi also said - but with the wrong rules it can be destroyed".
The leader of Confindustria then underlined that on this issue “the government's action has taken its first steps effectively. The interventions on fixed-term contracts and apprenticeship, the enabling law for the reform of the labor market are important signs towards a market regulated in a more modern and flexible way”. Squinzi then recalled that “a few days ago we presented our proposals, defining a complete framework of solutions and providing answers to the questions raised by the delegation. The document, the result of a collective effort, is our contribution to the Government, with which we will discuss in the forms and ways it decides".
Squinzi also spoke of Europe: “Italy's six-month presidency of the EU must be an opportunity to reduce the excesses of austerity applied asymmetrically and to begin a process of rapprochement between institutions and citizens of Europe”.
The Minister of Economy Federica Guidi also spoke on the Confidustria stage as a representative of the Government: “Targeted interventions for industry and the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises will be presented in the next few weeks in the Council of Ministers and in any case no later than 20 June”. The Minister of Economic Development thus reassured the audience of entrepreneurs during his speech at the annual meeting. "These measures, in favor of strengthening the capital of companies, will serve to give new impetus to the economy, given that only an entrepreneur who makes a profit can invest, grow and provide employment".
This is the activity that the Government proposes to do for Italian companies: measures aimed at stimulating the demand for investments and more general stimuli for consumption and investments through the reduction of taxes on companies and households. Guidi then reiterated the importance of Made in Italy, announcing that she has an extraordinary plan ready. "There is a hunger for Italy in the world, the markets have started trusting our country again", declared the minister. Also by 20 June, the "energy bill reduction plan" will also be presented, which provides for 10% savings for small and medium-sized enterprises.
