Art, tourism, environment. Enit presents its plan

The art and culture that have always accompanied those arriving in Italy or admiring it from abroad. This will also be the case for the next three years, according to Enit, the Italian tourism promotion body. The incentive plan was presented in Rome by the President of Enit, Giorgio Palmucci and by the Minister in charge of Tourism, Gian Marco Centinaio. To date, Italy has had large numbers in terms of visitors and resources, in spite of any controversy and unforgivable political self-harm that they do not understand abroad. However, protecting the artistic heritage and local traditions seems to be the leitmotif of this new programme. Inside there is a bit of everything, with artistic and cultural events in support of the territories and environmental contexts in which they will take place. The design exhibition at the Salone del Mobile, for example, is indicated as the undisputed showcase of Made in Italy.

Over 600 events that Enit has planned around the world including the Enit Centenary in November, the celebrations linked to Leonardo da Vinci. According to Minister Gian Marco Centinaio, the three-year planning will have to contribute to the development of tourist destinations in our country. A way to continue to gratify Italy, its beauties and its nature. That nature, we add, which is the backdrop to priceless riches, sometimes mistreated by ourselves which we then think of "selling" to tour operators and international agencies. On the other hand, Matera 2019 is giving extraordinary results in terms of attendance and turnover.

The data on the Italian tourism business was provided by the President of Enit. Presences in Italian accommodation establishments are close to 429 million and in 2018 they increased by 2%. International expenditure in Italy, which includes visits to museums, exhibitions, reviews and concerts, has risen to 41,7 billion euros. Networking, it has been said, will have to accompany planning. But despite the good intentions, various obstacles still need to be overcome. We will work in synergy with everyone, the Minister wanted to specify, to increase seasonality, to identify the new needs of visitors, to enhance the territories and relaunch them in a sustainable key. As is already the case in France, Holland and Denmark, innovative and certainly environmentally friendly travel experiences will have to be promoted. Go to an exhibition or to the theater moving in a green way, with non-polluting vehicles, using biodegradable products, respecting municipal or park rules and perhaps improving them. It will do ? Meanwhile, Enit declaimed the storytelling of major events: from the mountains (Cortina 2021 and Milan-Cortina 2026) to the culture of Italian historical figures, to international eventsi of agri-food such as Vinitaly or – as they said – of design at the Salone del Mobile. All very good, to be observed.
