Those who sell apps find a treasure, in Cupertino they know it better than anyone else. Last month alone, Apple customers downloaded three billion apps worth a billion dollars. If we look at the whole of 2013, however, the bill rises to 10 billion.
December was a record month for the App Store, which offers over one million apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in 115 countries. Developers have earned a combined $15 billion since the App Store opened in 2008, according to Apple.
Last year, the company made at least three billion dollars through the App Store, selling its own apps and charging a 30% commission on third-party developers.
