Apple makes cinema: agreement with A24 for the production of films

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), focus on cinema. La Mela intends to start making films and for this he has signed a multi-year agreement with the production house A24, founded five years ago and already winner of an Oscar for best film with “Moonlight” in 2017.

The agreement is the latest move in a project that should take shape in 2019, when - according to rumors - Apple should relaunch the Apple TV, combining original audiovisual content, distributed free to its users, with a series of external subscription channels.

The details of the agreement with A24 have not yet been disclosed, but it has been known for some time that Apple wants to launch a streaming service. The goal is ambitious: to compete with industry giants such as Netflix e Amazon Prime. What's more, just at a time when another giant is about to land in the same sector, Disney, which in 2019 and next year will launch Disney +, a new streaming service which for the moment will only be active in the USA. Mickey & Co. will be a real battleship that can count on five first-class brands: in addition to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic are also part of the family

Despite this, Apple is not discouraged and in 2018 allocated one billion euros for the creation of original television content. And last June, he announced a multi-year partnership with four entertainment icons: the TV star Oprah Winfrey, director Steven Spielberg and the actresses Reese Witherspoon e Jennifer Aniston, hired for a TV series. Not only that: Apple has also put under contract Damien Chazelle (“LaLa Land”) e M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”) for two more series.

as to A24, is really highly sought after, considering that the production house itself already has an agreement with Amazon to offer films on the Prime platform after their release in theaters.
