The General States of Foreign Trade are open

The States General for foreign trade started yesterday in Rome, but little has been said about the internationalization of companies.

The States General of Foreign Trade opened yesterday, in the beautiful setting of the EUR Congress Centre.

The first day was more of an institutional nature, dedicated to speeches by politicians. An assembly attentive to the speeches delivered from the stage, but equally shrewd and eager to obtain greater help from the institutions to face the difficult competition on foreign markets. Plus a large claque of former Ice employees, also eager to turn the clock back to before July 17, the official date of the suppression of the institution.

The only speech centered on the topic was that of the new Deputy Minister Catia Polidori, whose press release is attached below. Which you acknowledged that Made in Italy was "built" but also "obstructed" in our country, by a thousand bureaucratic laces and snares that weighed above all on the ability of SMEs to organize their presence on foreign markets.

For the rest, everything is subdued or self-congratulatory. President Berlusconi's speech (the inevitable opening joke, the usual speeches about the left and the judiciary, the final disturbing attack on the euro) has already been commented enough: the final assurance, that there will be an Agency for the foreign trade is certainly nothing new, and there was no need to come all the way here to find out about it. The problem is not if, but how this agency will be born: and opinions are certainly not in agreement on this.

Perhaps today we will know more, and above all we will get to the heart of the work, with the meetings of the technical tables and the presentation of the final manifesto by the entrepreneurs.
