Antitrust, new forms of payment from the PA are needed

In its latest weekly bulletin, the Authority points out that in many cases the only ways to pay the amount due to the administrations are the old postal order and the queue at public counters - An antiquated system which, among other things, can distort competition - C 'need to have new possibilities: Mav, wire transfers and web.

For once, instead of complaining about the "how much", let's complain about the "how". It is too difficult to pay the public administration. And not so much for lack of desire, but above all for practical difficulties. The Antitrust has also noticed this, which in its latest weekly bulletin points out how often public offices allow payments only through two "classical" instruments (in some cases perhaps archaic): the postal current account slip and the public counter.

According to the Authority, this limitation "can produce competitive distortions and obstacles to the correct functioning of the market, as well as inconvenience for consumers". In fact, everyone knows how much effort it can cost to pay even the poorest of bills. Especially when the post office terminals work in fits and starts, as happened a few weeks ago throughout Italy. For these reasons, the Authority addresses the Ministries of Economy and Public Administration directly, hoping "that the development of a real competitive environment will be stimulated and guaranteed through the expansion of the tools and networks that can be used to make payments".

Among other things, this would also eliminate the competitive advantages attributed to Poste Italiane. There would be several alternative instruments: the Mav (i.e. payment by notice), the bank transfer (in this case the administrations would have to make their Iban codes available) or payment through alternative networks (for example Lottomatica, Sisal, etc.). In addition, of course, to the most obvious method: the credit card on the web.
