Ansaldo Breda is targeting North and South America, looking at tenders for the subway in Chicago (USA), Lima (Peru) and Fortaleza (Brazil). Ansaldo Breda aims at transatlantic subways

Ansaldo Breda, a Finmeccanica group company, is looking across the Atlantic in the hope of being able to obtain the next orders for the subways in the United States, Peru and Brazil. This was claimed by the managing director Maurizio Manfelotto, at the end of a conference.

“We have some interesting tenders, especially for the subway in Chicago (USA) and Lima (Peru). We are also discussing Fortaleza (Brazil), but for all of them we are still in the pre-qualification phase,” said Manfelotto. The tenders are in fact still in the initial phase, which involves verifying the credentials of the companies intending to participate.

With regard to the dispute with the Dutch and Belgian railways over the Fyra 250 high-speed trains, the CEO recalled that tomorrow the ruling of the Utrecht court is expected on Ansaldo Breda's request to obtain a copy of the document drawn up by the independent company Matt MacDonald on trains, a report on the basis of which the Dutch and Belgian railways contested the train order contract.

Ansaldo Breda – recalled the CEO – has already delivered nine trains. “If we start again in the next nine months, we will complete the 16” initially envisaged in the contract.
