Andy Warhol. How much is his work worth?

Andy Warhol. How much is his work worth?

Andy Warhol, original name Andrew Warhola, (born August 6, 1928, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA – died February 22, 1987, New York, New York), American artist and filmmaker, initiator and leading exponent of the Pop art movement of the XNUMXs whose art produced it serially apotheosized the supposed banality of US commercial culture. An accomplished self-publicist, he has engineered a concept of the artist as an impersonal, even vacuous figure who is nevertheless a successful celebrity, businessman, and social climber. Warhol began painting in the late 50s and gained sudden notoriety in 1962 when he exhibited paintings of Campbell's soup cans, Coca-Cola bottles and wooden replicas of Brillo soap boxes. By 1963 he was mass-producing these deliberately mundane images of consumer goods by means of silkscreen photographic prints, and then began printing endless variations of celebrity portraits in gaudy colors. The silkscreen technique was ideally suited to Warhol, as the repeating image was reduced to a bland, dehumanized cultural icon that reflected both the supposed emptiness of American material culture and the artist's emotional non-engagement with the practice of his art of him. Warhol's work placed him at the forefront of the emerging Pop Art movement in America. In 1968 Warhol was shot and nearly killed by Valerie Solanas, one of an assemblage of underground rock and film stars, assorted parasites and social curiosities who frequented his studio, known as the Factory. (The incident is depicted in the 1996 film I Shot Andy Warhol.) Warhol had by then become a well-known fixture on the avant-garde fashion and art scene and was an influential celebrity in his own right. Throughout the 70s and until his death he continued to produce prints depicting Hollywood and political celebrities, and engaged in a wide variety of advertising illustration and other commercial art projects. His The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (1975) was followed by Portraits of the Seventies and Andy Warhol's Exposures (both 1979). Warhol's work is exhibited in the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. In his will, the artist mandated that all of his estate be used to create a foundation for "the advancement of the visual arts". The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was founded in 1987.

Investment judgment ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ But how much is his work worth? His works have seen a remarkable growth between 2000 and 2008 where we remember the work "Statue of Liberty” of 1986 sold for 2.966.540 €. We had another rise in 2015 and then a descent again. Only in this period, in conjunction with the fact that the pandemic has imposed online auctions, Warhol has resumed the scene and from March of this year to today continues to record record sales, as emerges from the latest awards shown below.
