Puglia looks a little more optimistic to the next summer weeks after its Regional Sea Center (CRM) has released the data of the National Environmental Protection Service on water quality. Record numbers, from the Gargano to Salento, with 99,7% of the waters classified as excellentthe. A result that the Region has achieved by investing 7 million euros and in particular by fighting the wild spread of plastic. The CRM, created nine months ago, is engaged in 2 very distinctive projects: Fishing for litters for the recovery of plastic at sea e Plastic free for the non-use of plastic in the beaches. Despite these good performances, for the next three years the Region expects to spend a further 12 million euros to increase controls and raise environmental awareness.
“We are a Region with almost a thousand kilometers of coastline and we have an extraordinary sea – says the general manager of Arpa Puglia, Vito Bruno – We have been awarded, together with Sardinia, for the best sea in Italy for bathing water with excellent quality. AND the data are the official ones of the National Environmental Protection System”.
