Confartigianato alarm: 68% profit tax

“It seems that everything is being done to push us across the border to find normal conditions in which to do business: the Italian tax authorities tax 68,3% of gross business profits, in Switzerland just 30,2%”. This is the alarm launched today by the president of Confartigianato, Giorgio Merletti.

RECORD TAXES AT 53,4% OF GDP

According to the report presented during the association's annual meeting, in 2013 taxation reached a record level, equal to 53,4% of GDP. “In 2013, Italians pay 38 billion more in taxes – reads the text -, equal to 639 euros in higher taxes per capita than the average of citizens in the Eurozone. This gap is the effect of the increase in the tax burden, which this year in Italy reaches 44,6% of GDP, a good 2,4 points more than the 42,1% average for the Eurozone countries. But if we consider the lack of revenue from the underground economy, the effective tax burden rises to 53,4% of GDP”.

IMU: INCREASE FROM 14,5 BILLION. WITH THE TARES, THE PER CAPITA WITHDRAWAL INCREASES BY 28%.

Among the most recent taxes, the Imu - notes Confartigianato - between 2011 and 2012 caused a higher levy on real estate of 14,5 billion. The impact of Tares, the new waste tax, is also heavy, causing a 28,1% increase in per capita collection. “Between 2005 and 2013 – continued Merletti – the increase in tax revenues was 132 billion, equal to the 132 billion increase in GDP. This way you don't get out of the tunnel of the crisis ".

EMPLOYMENT TAXES AT 42%: "WE NEED RELIEF"

According to Confartigianato, labor taxes account for over 42%. “The first path to take – Merletti said again – is not to eliminate the cost of labor from the Irap taxable base, but to provide serious contributions for new hires. We need to free the apprenticeship from the higher costs introduced by the Fornero reform, we ask for it having good reason because craftsmanship is the sector with the highest number of apprentices”.

BUSINESS CREDIT: 600 BILLION LOST IN 65 DAYS

Credit to businesses – according to the association's calculations – decreased by 600 billion euros in 65 days. "In the almost six hundred days - Merletti underlined - ranging from November 2011 to June 2013, in the alternation between technical government and the phase of uncertainty and stalemate registered at the start of the legislature, the number of Italian companies decreased by 1%, equal to 59.835 businesses, the number of craft businesses fell by 3%, GDP fell by 3,4%, credit to businesses decreased by 65 billion (-6,4%), the tax burden increased by two points and youth unemployment by more than eight points”.
