Alitalia, Ragnetti: 2012 much worse than 2011

The managing director: “But we are preparing for a 2013 in which we will certainly make a leap forward” – Colaninno: “We must bring the accounts to the positive and double or triple the customers to beat the competition from the low cost companies”.

Alitalia, Ragnetti: 2012 much worse than 2011

Il 2012 will be a "significantly worse" year for Alitalia than 2011. The negative forecast comes from the CEO of the airline, Andrea Spiderlings

“All together – added the manager during the employee convention – let's try to manage such a difficult 2012 and prepare for a 2013 in which we will certainly take a leap forward and for which I would not like to speak of a breakeven but of a return to profit as it hasn't happened for 15-20 years”.

As for industrial relations, "sooner or later we would like and should join a large international alliance – announced Ragnetti -. We must not be afraid, because when this happens we will have to sit down at the negotiating table with a strong position to strengthen the company”. In this regard, Ragnetti recalled that when KLM merged with Air France it did not lose its independence and was actually strengthened.

The president of the company, Roberto, proved to be far more optimistic than Ragnetti Colaninno, who speaking at the convention spoke of new goals: “Bringing the accounts positive and doubling or tripling the customers. We have to beat the competition from low cost airlines, who are a very intelligent model, but we have to beat them because we don't like them doing very well and us doing well enough: we have to make sure they do well enough and we do very well. I am convinced that we will amaze those who need to be amazed and give low cost a little acidity in the stomach”.

According to Colaninno, for Alitalia after the “phase of restructuring begins that of development. The goal is to bring the accounts in order, in the black from an economic point of view".
