Farewell to Singapore-New York, the world's longest direct air flight is now Johannesburg-Atlanta

The longest direct air flight in the world from today it is no longer the Singapore-New York of Singapore Airlines, which for nine years connected the two cities 15.533 kilometers apart in 19 hours.

The announcement was made a year ago, at the same time as that concerning the trafficking, also recently suppressed, between the Asian city-state and Los Angeles: according to analysts, the cause must be sought above all in theexcessive rise in the price of oil, which makes a flight of this distance too expensive.

Not to mention that the plane, which didn't make any stopovers, was fully loaded 100 passengers, who however spent an average of more than 8 euros each round trip, as the entire aircraft was considered business class. The route will obviously still be served, but from Tuesday 26 November it will call at Frankfurt, Germany.

So what will be the longest direct flights in the world now? According to the Australian Aerospace Centre, the largest non-stop routes now remain Dubai-Houston (13.143 km), Dubai-Los Angeles (13.381) and the Johannesburg-Atlanta (14.439 km), all lasting more than 16 hours.
