Boom in lending for house purchase. According to data released byAbi, in fact, in the first quarter of 2015 the market for loans to households for the purchase of homes experienced rapid growth, also thanks to the drop in interest rates, so much so that the amount of disbursements of new mortgages amounted to 7,897 billion euros against 5,250 billion in the same period of 2014, for a growth of 50,4% on an annual basis.
The figure for the first three months of 2015 is also higher than that recorded in the same period of 2012 (5,177 billion euros) and in 2013 (4,337 billion euros). In the first quarter, variable-rate mortgages accounted for 66,7% of total new loans, while fixed-rate mortgages accounted for the remainder.
