Abi: banks, executives' contract signed

The trade unions FABI, First Cisl, Fisac Cgil, Sinfub, Unisin, Ugl credito and Uilca signed the agreement to renew the national contract of around 7 Italian bank managers today in Rome.

Marco Boltri, FABI national manager for executives, states:

“The agreement is valid until 31 December 2018. Despite the closing position of Abi, intending until the end not to renew the executives' contract, we managed to reach an agreement which maintains, improving it, the regulatory structure of the contract precedent, also providing for the maintenance of all those regulatory provisions that were at risk of cancellation. The current salary structure and the severance pay calculation system have been maintained, and a significant increase in the period of compensation for oncological diseases has been recognised. In a European context, in which the executive's remuneration is regulated by the law and by the individual contract, we have managed not to have the current seniority step being accrued, as the Abi wanted, not cancelled, while those accrued will merge in a non-absorbable ad personam check. Furthermore, during the revision of the Employment Fund legislation, managers too will receive attention to their problems and will be able, in the event of termination of the employment relationship, to participate in initiatives envisaged by the Fund to be re-employed in the sector. FABI, also in view of the upcoming mergers, is ready to play its role to protect the entire category, from employees to managers".

WHAT THE AGREEMENT PROVIDES FOR

In detail, the agreement provides for the maintenance of the minimum wages of the old contract and of the current severance pay calculation system. The seniority increase in the process of accruing, which the ABI wanted to suppress, has been safeguarded, and the seniority increases already accrued will flow into a non-reabsorbable ad personam check. This therefore will not lead to a decrease in the purchasing power of the salary.

The new contract also introduces new features regarding conciliation procedures. In the event of termination of the employment relationship, the FABI will also be able to assist managers in the conciliation commission, spending its significant political weight also in their favour. Furthermore, for the first time, the parties undertake to make the agreement on the Fund for new employment valid also for executives, with the possibility of encouraging their re-employment, reconversion and professional retraining, in the event of termination of the employment relationship Work. An extension of the treatment period for cancer patients from 30 to 36 months was then obtained.
