The Temporary Grouping of Companies (RTI) led by Leonardo Finmeccanica was awarded through CONSIP, the national purchasing center of the Italian Public Administration, the tender for the supply of Digital Security and Safety services to the Public Administration. The total amount of the supply is equal to 600 million euros. Leonardo's share, agent of the consortium including IBM Italia and Fastweb, amounts to approximately 250 million euro.

“We are extremely satisfied to have been selected to accompany the Public Administration in the transformation process envisaged by the Italian Digital Agenda and by the Government's Digital Growth Strategy document. Leonardo's role will be central to all phases of the project, considering the key role of the security component in transactions with the Public Administration, to guarantee the integrity and authenticity of the data. Our success is based on the continuous development of strong skills in cyber security services and on the significant experiences gained in the management of applications and services for the Public Administration", declared Mauro Moretti, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Leonardo-Finmeccanica.

The award refers to Lot 2 of the framework agreement, divided into 4 Lots, relating to cloud computing services, security, creation of portals and online services and application cooperation for Public Administrations (PA). The supply of Lot 2 relates to “Digital identity services and application security”, divided into two blocks of activity. In detail, a block consists of services for the prevention and management of IT incidents and for the analysis of the vulnerabilities of the hardware and software components of the information systems of the PA, applicable both to centralized and shared cloud environments and to individual administrations.

A second block envisages a wide range of services and tools to support the management of digital identities for the PA, including electronic signature and stamp for validation, conservation, guarantee of conformity and legal validity of electronic and digitally copied documents. The services can be provided centrally or in the offices of the administrations which will subscribe to them on the basis of the type of service and the choices of the various PAs; the agreement constitutes an important step towards the standardization and harmonization of digital security in the PA, a necessary condition for offering homogeneous levels of security and improving the protection of citizens' data.
