A new journey to the Middle East in crisis with the aim of avoiding an escalation. The US Secretary of State Antony blinken one will begin in the next few hours new mission in Middle East in the hope of avoiding an expansion of the war in Gaza after the killing in Beirut of Hamas number two, Saleh al-Arouri, and yesterday's attacks in Iran during the celebrations for the fourth anniversary of the death of General Qassem Soleimani.
Not many details of the mission are currently known, other than the fact that Blinken is expected to be in Turkey on Saturday, January 6.
The terrorist attack in Kerman
La massacre in Iran took place on the anniversary ofkilling of the general Soleimani, leader of the Pasdaran and great enemy of Israel. Two explosions in Kerman, near the cemetery where he is buried, left at least 84 dead and hundreds injured, some in very serious conditions. There is no concrete evidence or clear claims regarding the ambush, among the most serious in recent history in Iran. Some sources indicate the Jaish al Adl, a Qaedist group, as possibly responsible, but there is no certainty and the investigations are still ongoing. But for Tehran there is no doubt: "it is a terrorist attack by mercenaries from the USA and allies".
Israel has not commented on the accusations, while the US State Department has called it "absurd" to think that the United States or Israel could be linked to the explosions in Iran.
Borrell condemns attack in Iran
The head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell expressed his condolences to Tehran in a phone call to the Iranian Foreign Minister, after the explosions in Kerman which Borrell called a "terrorist attack". The European diplomat – the media reports – spoke with the minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian “to offer his condolences following the horrific explosions in Kerman which killed dozens of civilians. I condemned this terrorist attack in the strongest terms and expressed my solidarity with the Iranian people."
No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but a political advisor to the Iranian president he accused Israel and the United States of being behind the attack. The State Department in Washington, on the other hand, considered any hypothesis of US or Israeli involvement in the attack "absurd".
