The first phase of the project has been inaugurated Mumbai Metro Line 2B, a strategic infrastructure for enhancing urban mobility in the Indian metropolis. FS was responsible for the extension of two corridors of the metro network: Line 7, which entered commercial operation in 2023, and Line 2B.

The first phase of Line 2B extends for 5,53 kilometers entirely on viaduct, connecting DN Nagar to Mandale, and includes five stations: Deshbhakt NG Acharya Udyan – Diamond Garden (Chembur), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk (Chembur), Deonar, Mankhurd and Maharashtranagar – Mandale.
The new section is designed for a maximum speed of 90 km/h and will operate at an operating speed of 80 km/h. The signaling system is based on CBTC (Communication Based Train Control) technology, with advanced levels of automation, while power is provided by 25 kV AC electric traction.

The line is equipped with integrated telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, SCADA, on-board radio, and public address and information systems. All stations are equipped with semi-high platform screens, elevators, and escalators. Video surveillance systems, help points, and automatic ticketing systems based on QR codes and smart cards compliant with the NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) standard.

The infrastructure supports a fleet of six-carriage trains with capacity for up to 2.280 passengers per convoy.

The Mandale depot includes stabling and maintenance lines, test tracks, and workshops, supporting a fleet of six-car trains with capacity for up to 2.280 passengers per train. The infrastructure will significantly contribute to reducing road congestion and emissions, improving the quality of urban life.
