50 Top Italy: Bottura remains at the top, Gorini climbs to the podium

Awarded Guide prizes by price range. Bottura first in the high range. In the medium-high range, Gianluca Gorini with a Michelin star makes his entrance. Cimini with the Antica Osteria del Mirasole remains the best Italian trattoria. New for the year is the Tre Olivi restaurant at the Hotel Savoy in Capaccio

Here comes 50 Top Italy 2021 the online guide of the Best Italian Restaurants which has the particularity, very useful, compared to the traditional Guides, of dividing the judgment into four types of catering: Restaurants Over €120, Restaurants up to €120, Trattorias/ Taverns and Low Cost.

The reader thus has a way of selecting more quickly, based on one's availability and tastes, which restaurant to choose without fail, without surprises.

No wonder that in first place among the high-end restaurants was placed the Osteria Francescana in Modena, by chef Massimo Bottura, a certainty of Italian and international catering, three Michelin stars, ranked first restaurant in the world in the list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2016 and 2018.

In the range of restaurants up to 120 euros, the daGorini restaurant in San Piero in Bagno (FC), led by Gianluca Gorini, won a Michelin star at the age of 35.

For the Trattoria section, the gold medal went to Franco Cimini's Antica Osteria del Mirasole, in San Giovanni in Persiceto (BO). While the podium for Low Cost went to Gabriele Bonci's Panificio Bonci, in Rome.

“That of daGorini – commented Barbara Guerra, Albert Sapere and Luciano Pignataro creators of 50 Top Italy – is the only change at the top compared to the previous edition. After all, the premises of Bottura, Cimini and Bonci are to be considered, in their respective categories, three heavyweights of Italian catering, also recognized at an international level. But the new generations are certainly not watching, as evidenced by the many quality brands, among the 200 total reviewed, led by young chefs and restaurateurs, starting precisely with Gianluca Gorini. Similarly, if it is true that three out of four winners come from Emilia Romagna, ascertaining the great gastronomic history of this region, scrolling through the rankings it is easy to see how many different territories of the boot are represented, from North to South. confirmation of how unique our country is on the world scene, imbued, from head to toe, with the culture of good food".

A regional heterogeneity already attested by the podiums of the four categories. For the Over 120 Euro Restaurants, in second and third position we find: Uliassi, in Senigallia (AN), by chef Mauro Uliassi, and the Daní Maison restaurant, in Ischia (NA), by Nino Di Costanzo. In the Restaurants Up to 120 euro range: L'Argine a Vencò, in Dolegna del Collio (GO), by Antonia Klugmann, and Lido 84, in Gardone Riviera (BS), by Riccardo Camanini. For the Trattoria/Osteria category: La Brinca, in Ne (GE), with Simone Circella in the kitchen, and Nù Trattoria Italiana dal 1960 – Trattoria of peasant civilization and freedom, in Acuto (FR), in the expert hands of Salvatore Tassa. In Low Cost: From Gigione Hamburgheria & Braceria, in Pomigliano d'Arco (NA), led in the kitchen by Gennaro Cariulo, and Anikò, in Senigallia (AN), by Moreno Cedroni.

“We would like to thank – conclude the three curators – our 150 inspectors who, anonymously and paying the bill, have visited the premises several times, judging them in total autonomy. We believe that the gastronomic storytelling shouldn't stop right now that the restaurant business is going through a very hard time. We owe it to those who go on amidst a thousand difficulties, never lowering the quality bar. As repeatedly stated, keeping the attention high on a sector that makes Italy great is our job, as well as our passion”.
