With 22 goals in total in his World Cup appearances, the Real Madrid star also surpassed Messi, who stands at 21, to become the competition's all-time leading scorer. The Argentine won the Silver Boot, while Jude Bellingham won the Bronze. The Fair Play award was finally given to the Netherlands.

How much did Spain earn from winning the World Cup?

The success earned the Spanish Football Federation a prize of 50 million dollars, approximately €43,7 million, compared to the €33 million reserved for finalist Argentina. This is a significant increase compared to the €42 million Albiceleste earned for the title won in Qatar in 2022.

In addition to the result-related sum, FIFA awarded $2,5 million to each of the 48 participating federations for tournament preparation. Considering these two items, Spain has therefore received at least $52,5 million, to which can be added additional contributions for logistics, delegations, and ticket management.

FIFA's total fund for the 2026 World Cup reached $871 million, including sporting prizes, organizational contributions, and reimbursements. Argentina received $33 million for second place, England $29 million for third, and France $27 million for fourth.
