Vw, Minister Galletti: "Evaluate stop sales in Italy"

The Italian Environment Minister, Gian Luca Galletti, wrote a letter to the managing director and general manager of Volkswagen Italia, Massimo Nordio, asking, "if necessary", to adopt the initiatives already implemented in the States, i.e. the blocking of car sales and the withdrawal of those already on the market. The ministry announces it in a note, specifying that decisions should be taken "to protect Italian consumers who have relied on the Volkswagen brand".

Galletti then asked for information on the cars sold on the Italian market by the well-known car manufacturer after the investigations conducted by the US federal agency on the discrepancies between the emission values of diesel vehicles placed on the US market and those actually produced on the road.

"I learned with concern the results of the investigations - writes Galletti - and I ask you to provide me with objective elements that similar technical devices have not been installed in the cars marketed in Italy aimed at altering the emission data from tests with respect to reality".
