New moves from Rome, Paris and Bern against Volkswagen for the Dieselgate case. The Italian Antitrust has launched an investigation procedure, also following various reports received from consumer associations, against the Wolfsburg company and its branch which operates in the distribution of Group motor vehicles in Italy.
The hypothesis investigation by the Antitrust, informs a note, concerns the possibility of an unfair commercial practice in relation to the well-known story relating to the marketing of motor vehicles and commercial vehicles with qualitative characteristics and pollutant emission class which would, in reality, be lower than the declared values.
In particular, continues the Antitrust, consumers may have been misled in their purchasing choices by the advertising messages used by Volkswagen on emissions and homologation class within its advertising campaigns and in the information leaflets distributed by dealers and retailers .
The lens of the Antitrust is aimed at all models marketed by the Volkswagen Group from 2009 to 2015 with the Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda brands and ended up in the emissions scandal.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Paris has opened an investigation into suspected "aggravated fraud" on Volkswagen's rigged emissions, while the Switzerland ordered the ban on imports and registrations of all diesel vehicles in the group. The suspension, according to a press release from the Federal Roads Office, will take effect from Monday 5 October and concerns only vehicles registered for the first time in Switzerland.
